President Obama is not the Anti-christ

President Obama PrayingPresident Obama is not the Anti-christ. I could get into the doctrine of the Anti-christ and explain how most people's ideas of eschatology (study of the end times) is very confused and unBiblical in this regard, but that's not the point of this article.

The point of this article is that many of my right-wing, evangelical, fundamental, Christian friends treat President Obama as if he is the anti-christ and oppose him at every step, right or wrong. I've even had some young people ask me if I think he is the Anti-christ.

At the beginning of the school year, Sept. 8, 2009, President Obama made an address to the school children of the country. He encouraged them to work hard, stay in school, and to obey their parents and teachers. You would have thought he was organizing a Hitler Youth rally by the outcry on the right. It was a great speech, it was well timed, and it was long overdue; I hope it starts a tradition.

President Obama has the right stance on the issue of Net Neutrality, as well. John McCain and many of our right-wing friends have been sadly deluded into thinking that the Internet belongs to Corporations. No, it does not. It belongs to the people of the United States of America - our taxes paid for it's development and, for the most part, to sustain it. The Internet has been likened to a highway. Well, how would you feel about the government letting corporations who are located next to ramps decide whether visitors from out-of-state can get on or off the highway near you? Ridiculous! Futhermore, Net Neutrality is not new. The Internet was invented with Net Neutrality as a guiding principle; it has until now not needed government regulation to enforce it. Since the government gave corporations the right to provide access to the Internet, they now want to use that ability to dictate who can and cannot have access. Net Neutrality just says, "nope, you can't do that - equal access for all." Nothing wrong with that!

And there are many other examples where we should praise and encourage the President in his correct thinking and policy on several matters. But, I'm not here to praise the President, only to show that there are places where we can support him. To not support him on the things he says and does that are correct is wrong of us and reveals the malice in our own hearts.

President Obama is wrong on abortion, wrong on healthcare, wrong on the economy, wrong on Iraq, and wrong about many other things. But, that doesn't make him evil; just wrong. When we speak and behave as if everything he does is evil, we make ourselves into reactionist nay-sayers, rather than level-headed thinkers. We are no better than those on the left (including the corporate media) that love everything he says and forbare critical evaluation. For the sake of our country and our future, can we stop the thoughtless attacks? There is plenty to critisize that is legitimate without resorting to illigitimate and polarizing denunciation.

Girl looking bothered while three girls in the background talkTwo recent articles from the newspaper (names and details have been altered):

Sally (an actress whose name you would recognize if I were to tell you) and her artist boyfriend Fred are getting more serious about their relationship. At least that's what people are saying after Sally, 22, was spotted in Fred’s hometown of Burbank, California.  She was there to meet the 29 year old's parents. "Fred's dad runs an art school there," an insider told this reporter.  The insider thought the two had a smashing meeting with his parents.
At least 10 people were arrested and charged with felony conspiracy to commit gaming in connection with the ring that operated between 4th and 6th streets. The shell game is one of the oldest cons in the book. It involves quickly moving a small, round object beneath one of three shells or bottle caps mounted on a table or cardboard box. Operators flash a wad of cash to entice passersby and employ shills to make the game look winnable. By the time the victim chooses a shell, the object has already vanished, thanks to sleight of hand. Those arrested included Jay, 77, the one who manipulated the shells, and Steve, 32, believed to be the group's enforcer, Lt. Vernon said. Police said they seized a butcher knife with a 4-inch blade from Steve.

Q/A: What is news and what is gossip and what is slander?

Keith Olberman has no axe and no clue
Politics

Keith Olberman of MSNBCI was linked to this diatribe by this guy on MSNBC's website named "Keith Olberman." What a laugh. This guy starts off by saying that his comments are not about yelling (hmmm... why would he need to stipulate that?) and not about politics (not that I'm suspicious, but he then says it's not really about prop 8 ... hmmm), and that he has no axe to grind as he has no friends or relatives that are gay (really - that's weird - I thought everyone had at least 1 token gay friend - I have several).

So this commentator without a clue ... I mean axe, goes on to tell us that the state of California's decision to define marraige as between one man and one woman is "HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE!"

What is a temple?

Dictionary.com: 1. an edifice or place dedicated to the service or worship of a deity or deities.

read I Cor. 3:16 - 17

That’s the plural form of “you” there. Like “ya’ll” – not “you” as an individual. We, the believers, are the temple of God. Not individually, but as the group – the citizens of the Kingdom of God, the church.
