Steve glanced at his watch. Eight thirty. "Dang" he muttered. He checked for leaks one more time and then closed the water heater closet. "All done!" he announced to the homeowner across the room. The home owner smiled and reached for a check book.

"Let me send you a bill. I got to get to my girl's little league game." Steve collected his tools and hurried out the door.

Steve drove aggressivly across town. Almost everyone had left by the time he arrived. He hugged Rachel and asked her how the game went, then he saw her tear stained cheeks. “I didn’t get to play,” she sobbed, “because you didn’t come and run the snack bar.”

“What?!” He stood up and walked over to the coach. Jason and Steve went to the same church, they had met and been sociable, but they didn’t really know each other very well. “Why didn’t you let Rachel play?” he yelled at Jason.

“You didn’t do the snack bar when it was your assigned turn. That’s league rules – if the parents don’t take their turn with responsibilities then their kid doesn’t play. We tried to call you.”
