I've upgraded this site to Joomla 1.0 over the weekend. I'm planning to keep customer sites on Mambo for the time being as there is a bug in the user Module section that I've patched for this site, but would be more comfortable with a core team release fix for customers.

Thank you for writing to Focus on the Family following our recent e-mail. We appreciate the opportunity you have allowed us to further clarify our position regarding the proposed dot-xxx domain.
From what you wrote, it is evident that you firmly believe in the potential a triple-x domain holds, and we value the perspective you offered. We have consulted with a number of experts in the field of Internet technology, and the information you have shared has been helpful, as well. However, while we certainly have briefly discussed the technological aspects of the proposal, our primary concern lies in the legal ramifications.
In granting a dot-xxx domain, we not only further legitimize pornography, but create a new marketplace for the spread of illegal activity. Consider the fact that most Internet pornography is hardcore by definition. According to the Supreme Court, such obscenities are not protected by the First Amendment and must forfeit protection under the law. But by providing a valid outlet through an established domain name, are we not conferring legitimacy on a criminal enterprise?
Moreover, our legal advisors are highly skeptical of any attempt to force a mandatory relocation of pornography to the triple-x domain. The Supreme Court has not often ruled in the interest of children when considering Internet obscenity cases. In fact, over the last ten years, the Court has ruled only once in favor of protecting our young people. We simply cannot in good conscience promote the creation of a dot-xxx domain with a slim, if nonexistent, hope it can be regulated at a later date. Why open the door at all?
Having said all of this, it is important to understand that we support federal obscenity laws, which already outlaw the distribution of hardcore pornography online. Prosecuting lawbreakers is our best defense in the battle to protect children. We hope you understand why we have chosen to oppose the triple-x domain. Simply put, we?re convinced we should not put our young people at greater risk; they are far too great a treasure.
Again, thanks for your input. We realize that from time to time there will be differences of opinion and practice between Focus on the Family and our listeners. Yet, our hope is that these points of disagreement will never be cause for severing our partnership in reaching our greater mutual goal of strengthening families to the glory of Jesus Christ. We ask for your prayers as we attempt to meet the challenges before us.
Anika Byron

There is a new vulnerability found last week in Firefox. Please open Firefox, go to the address line and type "about:config" and press "Go". In the web page that comes up will be a "Filter" field at the top of the page. Type in that field, "network.enableIDN" and it should limit the following list to just that one item. If the "Value" column is listed as "True", right click on the word "True" and it will give you a mini menu. Click the word "Toggle" and it will change the value from "True" to "False". This will not fix the problem, only safeguard your system disabling networkIDN. The problem is promised to be fixed in a later release.
